Revision surgery is performed to correct, improve, or refine the result of a previous cosmetic procedure, particularly when the first surgery did not heal or develop as expected.

What is It?
Revision surgery is a secondary procedure performed after a previous cosmetic surgery.

Because the anatomy has already been altered by previous surgery, revision procedures are often more complex than a first-time procedure and require careful assessment and planning.

Revision Rhinoplasty
Corrects or refines concerns following a previous nose surgery, including shape, symmetry, nasal structure, tip or bridge appearance, and selected functional concerns.
Revision Eyelid Surgery
Addresses concerns following previous eyelid surgery, such as uneven folds, asymmetry, excess or insufficient skin removal, scarring, or other appearance-related concerns.
Should I Consider Revision Surgery?
Revision surgery may be considered when a previous procedure has healed but certain concerns remain.
For revision rhinoplasty, these concerns may include an uneven bridge, irregular tip shape, asymmetry, visible contour irregularities, structural concerns, or breathing difficulties.
For revision eyelid surgery, patients may be concerned about uneven eyelid folds, asymmetry between both eyes, visible scarring, an overly high or low crease, or a result that does not suit the overall eye shape.
However, not every concern requires another operation. During your consultation, our surgeon will first assess the previous surgical result, current anatomy, tissue condition and healing before recommending whether revision surgery is appropriate.
How Is Revision Surgery Done?

If available, information regarding your previous operation may also be useful when planning the revision. Your surgeon will explain what can realistically be improved, what limitations may remain, and whether additional surgery is appropriate.
Planning the Revision
Revision surgery requires a highly individualized approach because every patient arrives with different previous surgical changes.
Scar tissue, altered cartilage, previously removed tissue and changes in skin quality can all influence the surgical plan.
Rather than repeating the first operation, the revision procedure is carefully adapted to the patient’s present anatomy and specific concerns.
A revision procedure may involve:
- Carefully reopening or working around previous surgical areas.
- Releasing or reshaping scar tissue where appropriate.
- Correcting asymmetry, contour irregularities or structural concerns.

- Using additional cartilage or tissue support when required in selected revision rhinoplasty cases.
- Adjusting an eyelid crease, skin, fat or scar tissue where appropriate in revision eyelid surgery.
- Closing the surgical area carefully and beginning the postoperative healing process.
The exact technique, anaesthesia and operating time will depend on the type and complexity of the revision required.

What Should I Consider Before Choosing
Revision Surgery?
WHEN CAN I HAVE REVISION SURGERY?
- Revision surgery should generally be considered only after the previous surgical area has healed sufficiently. The appropriate timing varies depending on the original procedure, tissue condition and individual recovery, so your surgeon should assess this before another operation is planned.
IS REVISION SURGERY MORE DIFFICULT?
- It can be more complex than first-time surgery because previous operations may have altered the normal anatomy and created scar tissue. The level of difficulty varies significantly from one patient to another.
CAN REVISION SURGERY MAKE EVERYTHING PERFECT?
- Revision surgery aims to improve specific concerns, but perfect symmetry or an exact predetermined result cannot be guaranteed. Existing tissue, scar formation, previous surgical changes and individual healing can all affect the final outcome.
WILL I HAVE MORE SCARRING?
- Revision surgery involves previously operated tissue, so existing scars and new scar formation must be carefully considered. Where possible, surgeons may work through or around previous incision sites, depending on the procedure and individual case.
CAN MY PREVIOUS RESULT ALWAYS BE CORRECTED?
